San Jacinto National Park

Yesterday we went to San Jacinto National Park - which is 8,500 feet above the desert and Palm Springs at the top of a mountain.

The climb to the top is taken in a very unique cable car that takes up to 80 occupants and rotates on the way up the mountain giving everyone a chance to see the view.

The guide on the cable car told us that this climb represents changes in climate that are the same as traveling from Mexico to Canada in 15 minutes.

The temperature at the top was 40°F cooler than on the desert floor and was a cool 65°F - which was almost like home - except it was still sunny (not something we expect back in Scotland)

The air being a bit thinner also made following the mountain trails a little slower - but the fresh air and smell of pine was a welcome change to the heat of the desert.

Once we came back to earth - we couldn't wait to jump into the pool back at the apartment - the temp had risen to 116°F!!
