On the first full day of our holiday we get a chance to relax in the pool, ease out of the jet lag from the previous day's travel and explore the gardens and pools of the JW Marriott Desert Springs hotel.
Our own apartment is huge with 2 double bedrooms, a kitchen and huge lounge.
Kay decided to really relax and have a Jacuzzi in her bathroom - this was a two person jacuzzi bath but she couldn't find any takers when asking for someone to join her.
It was just too hot!
The grounds of the apartments and JW Marriott are as stunning as ever as you can see from the pictures here.
Palm Springs certainly made us get used to the heat quickly as the temperature by midday here was already 109°F - but it was to get hotter!
The first family portrait on holiday - but minus one (as Laura will no doubt email to remind us!)
As usual the heat means that you need to drink to keep cool and eat lots of ice cream (thats our excuse anyway!)
Carolyn enjoyed eating lunch by the pool in the beautiful warm sunshine.
And Fiona was quite content to do the USA Today crossword after breakfast.
A very relaxing day.
