Here is what this slice of paradise looks like from the air.

We left our hotel in the morning driving 45 minutes south to the sister hotel of ours and a waiting speedboat which was to take us further around the south coast of Mauritius to Ile De Deux Coco.
This was another 45 minutes of bumping over the coral reef that surrounds Mauritius at great speed but it was exhilarating and worth it because this little island is in the middle of a lagoon on the coral reef and is simply perfect for swimming into the reef.
We all went snorkeling and the tropical fish that we saw were better than anywhere else we have been - even Mexico. We could have stayed out on the reef for hours and hours - but a huge barbecue lunch beckoned.
The lunch was a feast all cooked in the open on an enormous barbecue, fish, shrimp, chicken, beef and salads and tropical fruits galore. We also had a butler appointed to us as we arrived on the island and so we barely had to lift a finger - he brought the food, drink, snacks, snorkel gear, more drinks, towels etc etc. Wonderful!
There is one house on the island that can be rented (with the rest of the island) for £1,000 per day - but it sleeps 4 and that includes all meals and as much wine as you can drink!
This is a picture of it here - and what an amazing setting.
This was a really special and memorable day - and as they say "another day in paradise....."

Despite not liking boats and the water generally, Carolyn seems to have found a new vocation as Captain - as you can see she took us home in the speed boat!
