After all the holiday festivities - it was a great escape to the countryside for us and a long weekend in Portpatrick before starting back to work.
As you can see we rented a large house with lots of bedrooms and a great view!
We enjoyed a long walk around this lighthouse in southern Galloway and the location had spectacular views.
We visited Culzean Castle and Alan re-lived his childhood by climbing onto the cannons - unfortunately they weren't as impressive as he remembers when he was a young whiper-snapper!

On our last day heading back north - we paid another visit to Culzean Castle - and walked through the gardens in the winter sun.
Later in the afternoon the sunset was spectacular as you can see here in these photos.
